COURSE OVERVIEW

This qualification reflects the roles of community services, case management and social housing workers involved in the managing, co-ordinating and/or delivering of person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities.

At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously under broad directions from senior management. Workers are usually providing direct support to individuals or groups of individuals. Workers may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers and/or case management; program coordination or the development of new business opportunities.

Entry Requirements

  • To ensure an appropriate learning opportunity, prospective students need to demonstrate a capacity to undertake study at a Diploma level, this can be demonstrated via a Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment and a Pre-Training Interview, administered by and to the satisfaction of the registered training provider –and be at least 18 years of age.
  • You must have good word processing and email skills as well as the ability to download and upload documents and information.
  • Complete the application & enrolment documentation, provide proof of Australian residency, photo ID or alternatively, a birth certificate or current Passport.
  • A satisfactory National Police Check (NPC) will be required for all work placements.

Delivery

This course is delivered using a combination of face-to-face classroom & possibly a webinar environment when necessary, with a combination of interactive workshops in the classroom with opportunities to participate in practical application of skills and knowledge through, practical industry based simulated training activities and workplace participation.

  • Estimated duration of 50 tuition weeks allowing sufficient time to develop the necessary skills and knowledge in each unit.
  • 100 hours work placement in a suitable workplace e.g. community service organisation.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

All prospective students enrolling in the course are entitled to apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL) or credit transfer.
